I've had different versions of CS open, i.e. CS 7 and CS 8, at the same time, but I'm not sure it's possible with the same version.

It is not possible to have two instances of the same version of Camtasia Studio open. I am sure there is some kind of work around using a Virtual System but, I do not know how. As Mike stated it is possible to have two different versions running at the same time side by side. Hope this helps and thanks for posting.

I wish this was possible too. Sometimes I want to copy and paste clips from one camtasia file to another.

I have determined: If you copy a clip from the first file, exit camtasia, and open the second file, it will not paste. However, if you copy the clip, do NOT exit camtasia, and just open the second file, it WILL paste and will automatically close the first file.
Hope that made sense!

In CS7 and CS8, you can send clips [or most everything else] to Library, and then be able to use that asset in another project

in CS8, you can also load multiple projects [saved as sequence assets from the Library] on the timeline at the same time, and keep them separated
