I am guessing that this is a result of Apple locking down permissions on the camera and microphone.  See this support article for help on resolving the issue. https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360018592411

Camtasia 2018.0.5 will prompt you for permissions, but earlier versions do not.

Thanks, Stephen,  I am working with Snagit and I have completed what you suggested and still getting the same result.  I've used it successfully for months and all of a sudden just stopped.  I don't know what to do.  I use the program a lot.

This seems too simple but I'll toss it out anyway. I note that this is SnagIt for Mac, so it probably behaves differently than PC. But on the PC, after you press the red record button, you draw the rectangle to select the recording area and it actually LOOKS like you are recording. But you must click another button to actually begin the recording process.

Apologies if it works differently or if I'm simply donning my Captain Obvious cape.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thanks for the help Rick,   I have solved my problem.  All I had to do was read the help pdf and follow the instructions.  I needed to click on the video icon on the left before I clicked on the big red Capture button.   Thanks, everyone for trying to help.
