I cannot change my autosave folder ? I run Snagit on MacBook Pro with Yosemite and I want to use my external HD drive LaCie 2T. When trying I receive two types of error messages : 'unknown error' or 'there is not enough free space '. There is 1.5TB of space.

You can alter location of auto saves in Preferences
Or you can go to "Autosaved" Folder and put an alias to it either on the sidebar (when you open hard drive from Finder, or on the Dock to allow you to get to it quicker.

The "Choose..." doesn't behave as I expect. Whatever folder I choose, Snagit attempts to use a sub-folder from that called "Autosaved Captures". This is not the behavior I want. If I wanted to put saved captures in a folder called "Autosaved Captures", I would create the folder myself. If I want to save the autosaved files to any specific location, I can't.. No other software I use does this. This is a bug in my opinion.

It is  Bug. But technically if your using OS X.10.x (Yosemite) or OS X.11.x (EL Capitan) apple demands  sand-boxing and containerizing so  It programmed to go to this pre-named Folder.
