I have been asked to investigate how I can screen capture motion video of an iPhone and iPad application to turn into narrated video training materials. Any ideas clever people?

If you are referring to recording the screens of the iphone or ipad than you would need to "cast"
them to your PC screen where you can than record them with Camtasia.

I myself have not tried casting Apple to Pc, but have done it with Android.

There are options though :)

Do a Google for something like: "cast a iphone or ipad to windows pc screen"

Here is one link I found to a site I refer to on occasions for help
  https://www.howtogeek.com/247573/how-to-mirror-your-iphone-or-ipads-screen-on-your-windows-pc/

Another option (that I again have done with Android) is use a app on the iphone or ipad that records the screen and than move it off the device and on to the PC and into Camtasia.

You could also just record with the app on the iphone or ipad and save/use the video it creates

:)

You can do this with the Mac version of Camtasia. Do you have access to a Mac? The latest version of Camtasia is cross platform compatible so you can screen record on the Mac and edit in Windows.  You can use the same licence as long as they are not used at the same time.

If you don't have access to a Mac then Dubie's options should work. You can use TechSmith's free app 'Fuse' to easily transfer images and video from mobile devices straight into Camtasia on a PC for editing.

I hope this helps
