I have bought the camtasia in the beginning of 2018 and why is it necessary to pay for the Upgrade? This is insane

It is asking me to pay and buy upgrade even when I bought the software the same year. This is really not good.

I feel the same way, I purchased Camtasia 3 for Mac on Feb 24th, 2018.  I think TechSmith has grossly underestimated the true cost of this upgrade policy.  Customer loyalty does not grow on trees. This will affect my TechSmith purchases in the future.

Thank you all for your feedback on how you feel about the upgrade policy and pricing. While TechSmith offers a "maintenance" plan that enables you to always get the new upgrades (including new major versions), it sounds like you have not taken advantage of that plan either.
It might be helpful to share some other software you have purchased that have policies you've liked better?

OK, here are two great examples, that TechSmith should follow:
  1. OmniFocus by OmniGroup -- Free upgrade to new major version if you purchased within the last year.
  2. Keyboard Maestro by Stairways Software -- Free upgrade to new major version if you purchased within the last 6 months.
What I proposed above is between the two.
