Hi Ginger!

While Camtasia is open I would like you to right-click on the Speaker icon in the lower right corner of your screen (where your system clock is) and open the Volume Mixer. Can you please verify that Camtasia is not muted or the volume is not turned down?

Hi;

When you add the media to the timeline do you have a waveform?

Should it play back through the mic or my computer speakers?

Hello;

A microphone is an input device so it should be playing back through your speakers.

If you right-click on the speaker icon in the lower right corner of your screen (where your system clock is) and click Playback Devices are your speakers set as the playback device?

I'm hearing a slight feedback/hmm in the recording.  What adjustments do you recommend?

Hi;

If there is an audible feedback hum in the recording you may want to try the Noise Removal function in Camtasia, and if that does not work you might want to export the audio for finer tweaking in a digital audio workstation / audio editing platform (Audacity is free and is excellent).

Depending on the type of hum (hard drive noise or actual microphone feedback) you may be able to prevent this from happening in future recordings. What microphone are you currently using?

Hello;

What options did you have selected in the Camtasia Recorder prior to the recording session?

first I selected record the screen - start a new project by recording the screen. I was able to hear the voice in first 2 recordings but I can't hear the voice in other recordings. Please suggest what can be done.
