Very frustrating. I shoot video and then I get these weird distortions (which are not in the original video). I'm going to attempt to attach a screenshot. What is going on here?

This is frustrating because it isn't always convenient to reshoot. I record several at a time. Another example from the video I'm editing right now:

AND sometimes it will look fine in pre-render and then this crap happens when I upload to YouTube. This is really a problem. I tried other editors and I really prefer the camtasia interface. But I guess this is a limitation. I wish someone would answer me here - I feel like I am almost forced to move away from this company and look at learning something new.  Does ANYONE have any input here??

Try rendering in software mode only. See if that fixes the issue.

If it does, maybe a graphics card driver update will resolve the issue.

I do want to say that I bought a Dell XPS 15 with a really kick a** video card from NVIDIA so I could render faster. But I'm going to give this a shot and keep my fingers crossed. Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hi Angy, I see in your picture that you have recordings from Zoom and they are stacked.  I had this exact problem last week and it drove me crazy!  Once I unstacked the zoom recorded tracks, the problem went away in rendering. Yes, I even had it play just fine in the editor and only show the issue in the rendered output.  I stacked my zoom tracks because I was cropping different pieces and therefore I had to layer/copy the track. On another note, I also played with scaling ... for some reason, I don't think the zoom recordings play well inside Camtasia - at least I was unable to do much with them in terms of the stacking.  I hope this helps.
Thanks, Gord

Joe - Re: the Zoom questions: They were recorded directly to my machine. The recordings were done in my personal meeting room. I'm a paying zoom client. You are welcome to share whatever you like with them if it will help resolve!

Also: the same has happened with cloud recordings. The personal meeting room is named "Morning Show" and it's also the same email address I use here - angyatkinson at gmail.

It's my guess that the recordings are the same, whether they are stored in the cloud, or you download locally at the end of the meeting, and so, I would surmise that the results would be similar - download from cloud storage, or local download at end of meeting.

Well angyatkinson,
I would think the issue is Camtasia related. If you wanted to export a small zip project with the glitch and upload to a file sharing location. I could see if ....
A.It happens on my computer in Camtasia.
B.If it happens in Adobes Premier Pro.
Something small, I can't dedicate a lot time to it, just enough to see the issue. And see if its all about Camtasia or a more universal problem.

Thank you. I will do that when I can. In the middle of a big launch right now so need to probably wait until next week. Thank you again.
