I want to record the screen showing how to use snagit editor, but when I have the editor open and start to record the editor disappears. Is there any way to get around this or should I just use another screen recording tool for this?

You could use Camtasia or Jing to record Snagit.

Open the "Snagit Capture Preferences" from the settings icon, then click on the tab called "Capture" and remove the tick from the "Hide Snagit when capturing" checkbox.

Problem solved.

Well I spoke a bit early. So I'm recording my screen and what I'm doing is printing a PDF to the Snagit 13 printer. When printing, Snagit doesn't produce the image until I stop the video. So basically I have to merge the videos together in order to have a single video. My preference is an MP4 unlike what Jing provides. So it seems like Cantasia is what I need or else use another video editing software to join multiple video files together.

If you just want to join videos with  minimal editing capabilities you can get the Freemake video converter. It is free, it burns movies with menus but also converts and can join multiple files. It allows you to  cut out parts of the video.  It is NOT a challenger for Camtasia by any means but it may do what you want

Thanks for that info. I will look at that tool but I can use OfficeMix and just create power point video slides and just be done with it:)

I thought maybe I was just not doing something right with Snagit:)
