I would like to be able to use speech to text capture with Camtasia on a Mac. Any suggestions or considerations?

Hi dgalipp,

Mac has a very reliable dictation functionality built in. I regularly use it for emails as well as webcast scripts. See here for details on how to set up. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202584

Thank you Philip,

I’m somewhat familiar with that process and I’m still learning how to use this feature and would like to know if there’s a way to use this to have it listen to a track being played. Thus far when I start the dictation session and start playing an audio track, it turns off dictation.

It seems like I need a way to set the input for dictation to be the same output as the Mac.

I appreciate your feedback and any thoughts you may have.

There has been a lot of noise lately about how good speech-to-text has become. It is all nonsense. I just finished benchmarking the latest tech from Google and some startups, none can do a reliable job with anything other than perfect, slow, well-enunciated speech. So always plan to do lots of correction.
