I need the "TechSmith EnSharpen Quick Time Codec" to make .mov files and tried reinstalling as it suggested, which did not work.

I'm trying to produce a Quicktime movie file. It told me that I need the "TechSmith EnSharpen Quick Time Codec" in order to produce that format, and to reinstall Camtasia to get the codec. I have now reinstalled Camtasia (downloaded from the site again directly) and it still says the same error. What do I do next?

I am using Camtasia Studio 8 for Windows, fully licensed.

I think this support article has the answer: https://support.techsmith.com/entries/22894446-Camtasia-Studio-Producing-to-MOV-says-the-Ensharpen-c... In short, you will need to install the latest QuickTime and Ensharpen, both linked from the support article.

Quicktime Export - Trial Version.

I currently have the 30-Day Trial Version installed on my HP Windows 8 computer. I have a captured video that I'd like to export as a .mov file. However, I'm told that "TechSmith EnSharpen Quicktime codec is required to produce this file format. To install the codec, reinstall Camtasia Studio."

1.) How does reinstalling Camtasia Studio install this codec without downloading it?

2.) Will I lose my project and 30-Day Trial by reinstalling Camtasia?

Please help.

I've downloaded and installed the plugin, restarted Camtasia, and it still gives the same message.

You will most likely need to restart the computer, not just Camtasia, for the codec to work.

Sorry but this is arduous at best. I installed Camtasia Studio 8 on Window 7 Pro (i5, nVidia, 16GB). I created a project and tried to export to .mov and got this message "The TechSmith EnSharpen Quicktime codec is required...". However the EnSharpen codec and the latest version of QT 7.7.8 was already installed. So I tried it again and the PC froze and crashed. I restarted the Pc tried again, same error message. So I uninstalled Camtasia Studio and then re-installed it. Nope still couldn't export to .mov. So I uninstalled Camtasia Studio and the EnSharpen Encoder and Quicktime and every other trace of TechSmith products on my PC and re-started the download. First installed Camtasia Studio, the EnSharpen, then QuickTime. Then restarted! Still get this error message. It's just too hard guys!!

UPDATE: I eventually shut down the computer, went and got lunch. Came back booted up the PC and now it works. But seriously, too many hoops to jump through. It should not be this hard.
