I'd like to see a feature added that would give me a direct link to the .ping file stored on Screencast.

I don't want a link to the website where the picture is stored. I want a direct link to the picture.

When clicking on the Screencast link, the current picture is uploaded to Screencast and, after a few moments (too many moments, IMHO) a pop-up appears at the bottom right of the screen offering to copy the link to the clipboard or to view the picture on Screencast. Usually, the pop-up remains displayed long enough to do both.
Assuming this what you mean. I don't know what a .ping file is.

.png file. No, I don't want the link to the page or website where I can view the file.
I  want a direct link to the .png file.  I understand that is currently not available. I'm requesting this be added as a new feature.

Personally, I'd be surprised to see that ever happen. What you are asking for is something known as "hot linking". Generally speaking, hot linking is frowned upon by nearly everyone. If you really want this, you would do well to upload to your own servers.

How is it hotlinking ??? I took the screenshot. I want a direct link to that screenshot. Not a link to the picture on someone else's website ???

Indeed you did take the screen shot. But you would then be uploading it to TechSmith's servers. So if this all worked as you would like, how exactly would you be presenting the image? And to whom? And that's the crux of the issue. It's all about bandwidth and possibly also advertising.

Hmmm, it does look like they do allow embedding. Note that when you click the Share button, there is code you can use to embed the image.

I'm not interested in the html code. I also don't want to have to copy the actual link to the image from within the html code.  I'm simply asking for a direct link to that image file. It shouldn't be very hard and doesn't need all this discussion. It's a request and should either be accepted or rejected by those in charge of Snagit.

For a direct link to your image,  Get your embed code for the image.

Paste that into notepad

Highlight and Copy one of the https: links and paste that link where you need it.

So my link would be this
https://content.screencast.com/users/DubieRandolph/folders/Default/media/a6327e8a-1400-4df9-8a17-b44...

Since the link is usually long,  I would shorten it using something link bit.ly or googles shortener.

It's probably not going happen in Snagit or Screencast because of copyright and security reasons.

Amazing how people don't read. I just explained why I wanted the direct link. I don't want to have to copy it. If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't have asked for the feature.
Just allow Smagit to answer the request.  I wasn't asking for anything else. Thanks

Don't hold your breath.

Getting  the option for a direct link to the image probably won't happen for the same reason Youtube doesn't offer a direct link to a video.

Bandwidth and hotlinking by others and copyrights are the biggest reasons.

There are other reasons also.

The only way to get a direct link I'm going to speculate is how I posted.

You can't even view a image on a new tab on google image search anymore. You have to visit the site that it's from.

Are you a part of the decision-making team of  TechSmith?  If not,
then please leave the decision up to them.

Yes in a way I am part of the decision team. As is everyone else that uses the forum. You too.

When a idea gets posted here it  gets voted on by users here if it would be something they want. That's one of the ways Techsmith determines feasibility and priority of something getting implemented. That's what the VOTE button at the top of the page is for.

I'm not saying you can't have it,  but with the long list of requests made here and/or bugs that have yet to EVER be done or resolved is my reason for saying Don't hold your breath.

Chill out and spend some time on the forum and you'll see what I mean.

:)

I've made a suggestion. If it happens fine. If not, no big deal. Snagit isn't the only tool. I have alternatives. It's always nice to be able to depend on one tool to serve all one's needs.
If that isn't the case, then you find a tool that does.
Being a product user and a forum member still doesn't make you a decision maker.  There's a big difference between a suggestion maker and a decision maker.  Keep up your good work of helping others.
My suggestion has been made if it happens fine if not oh well.
