I really like your program, I do not want to switch to Adobe Premiere Pro. But you can not do a flexible layer removal. Please do. Check out the video.

Ahhh, looks like you are wanting what I might assume is this "masking" thing folks are talking about? Yep, you can only crop the video vertically or horizontally.

You can kind of get there by manipulating a layer of shapes that would sit above the video, but it's not straghtforward like you show in your video.

Cheers... Rick :)

Camtasia isn't designed for FX work.

That masking thing people are talking about is transparency Rick. It's adding transparency to an image/video/media.
So you can't just layer shapes to create a mask.

You could, add Green or Blue colored shapes "Preferable Green", render a video with the shapes burned in.

Bring that video back in and add the remove a color filter.  You can get a half way decent keyed out effect.

You gotta really want that effect to put yourself through it though.
That's a lot of work and a workflow I wouldn't normally recommend.

Just because you can jump through a hoop, doesn't mean you always should.

Regards,Joe

You could even export a frame from Camtasia. Create a custom shape for it in a Image editing  program. Export it as a transparent PNG.
Then overlay it on the video in Camtasia that you have to render.
