Dear Team,

I have very long videos of a teacher answers questions for audiences, I want to cut it to many small segments for each question. To do this, I must hold left click button of mouse and drag the play head to detect video on the timeline. It makes my hand fatigue and usually miss or wrong detect position of segments, specially spend a lot of time to detect forward and backward because the mouse not move steady. I have one proposal for this issue as below:

We can speed up the playhead by hold left and right arrow hot key, if we hold the right arrow key the playhead will speed up from slow to fast and will reach to max speed, max speed can be that we hold right arrow hot key 1 second the playhead will move 5 seconds on the timeline. Or, if we hold the right arrow hot key 1 second, the playhead will move 150 frames (move frame by frame). If possible, we can set max speed manually in the setting or have slide bar above the timeline, similar to zoom slide bar, the unit is ‘frames per second’. Could you consider to have this improvement for Camtasia? I hope my idea will help to improve the quality/advantage for Camtasia program and everybody will happy for this.

Thank you!
Tai Le.

Hello Tai, Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like what you are asking for is traditional JKL shortcut editing. This is on the radar, but probably still a couple of years out. We're going to be doing some work on our core rendering performance in the future that we hope to piggy back off of.

If you're working on Camtasia Mac, you can hold down the . key or , key, and keep holding it down for more rapid playhead advancement in either direction. If you press either of these keys and hold down the Shift key you will get selection indicators that make it easy to get back to point you started playback at using the return key (double click the playhead to regather the selection start / end indicators. This may get you part of the way towards the workflow you are looking for. I don't remember what the Windows equivalents are off of the top of my head.

Thank you Brooks!

I had already known your tutorial, however the speed of these two hot keys is very slow and we will spend a lot of time to get the segment of video. We need to speed up the speed of playhead by these hot keys. I hope the speed of these hot keys will be much faster in next version.
