We have had several reports of people getting an error message that says "Your Screencast plugin is out of date and must be updated." when attempting to upload a video to Screencast.com. This appears to be just a Camtasia Studio 7.1 issue.

The development team has released a patch to fix this issue. You can read more about this and download the patch here:
http://techsmith.custhelp.com/app/ans...

If you are using a version other than 7.1 and are seeing this issue, please open a support ticket: http://bit.ly/techsmithsupport

We just released version 7.1.1 which is a free upgrade for all Camtasia Studio 7 customers. This version addresses some of the issues as reported here on Get Satisfaction. The easiest way to obtain this version is to click Help > Check for Update in Camtasia Studio.

A full list of the improvements can be seen here: http://feedback.techsmith.com/techsmi...

Yes, I am also getting this error when I try to upload to screencast.com

Has there been a fix for this problem as of yet? This problem is listed as Solved but, in reality for the 8.0.2 version of Camtasia Studio it does not work. Let us know and thanks.

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about the Screencast.com issue. I checked to see if we changed something but I don't think so. It's strange how it's been working in the past and having an issue now. I couldn't replicate it, but I'd like to direct you to open a case with our Support team. They will have some ideas and can help.

Sincerely,
Mike Curtis

I have the same problem - plugin out of date message - I have v 8.0.2

I then try plan B - convert the file to an MP4 and upload to screencast

the file appears in my screencast library but I when I try to open it, I get the message saying can't "embed this content type"

Solutions?

Trialing this software. Not good.

Same error repeatedly using 8.0.3 build 994

Otherwise a good product, but you would think the interaction with screencast.com would be better.

Publishing to YouTube works without a problem.

11/4/12 - uploading to screencast is still a problem on this end - just spent the last half hour trying with no luck - very hit and miss at the best of times regardless of file size

I have this problem with Camtasia Studio 8.04.

I used the Screencast.com desktop uploader to get around the problem for now but it would be helpful to have it fixed.

I am also having same problem.

Why everything in Techsmith doesn't work or has some bugs.

I regret that I spent too much time trying to use their products.
