We have a old Camtasia 8.04 version and new Catasia 2018 version. We exported from the old version as a zip and imported it to the new version and it just crashed. Both versions are Windows based, just the OS is different Windows 7 and 10.

The uncompression looks good at the directoy, the software also recorginzed "it is a old version, do you want to convert?" , but then nothing happens. Anyone a idea?

Camtasia is screwy,  you have to open it in Camtasia 9 first. It's a chain event upgrade.
It's kind of stupid actually.

You have to download and install Camtasia 9 from this link. You can activate it with your Camtasia 2018 key.

https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions

Then the project will upgrade in Camtasia 9.

Take that upgraded project.  Then you can open it in Camtasia 2018

You are right, I can open it in Camtasia 9. But I have the same problem in Camtasia 2018 then again. I tried to open just the project and I tried to export it as zip and imported it at Camtasia 2018.

You could contact support.

However, Camtasia 9 isn't much different than Camtasia 2018. Unless your looking for a new feature like 60fps editing, themes or the new library.Theres really not much else 2018 has to offer.
You could just continue editing in version 9 and be done with it. Unless you plan on continually updating this project down the road? Legacy callouts have been know to create problems between versions.
Aside from that, tech support or advice from some one else.
