Import caption in srt format at a offset.

When you compose a production, I want to insert captions from various sources. Such as a caption with a fixed intro and extro. Or offset by the length of the trailer.

Currently, a srt file with captions is always inserted at time 0. If you want to start the captions at a specific offset, you will either have to manually edit the srt before importing or manually edit the camproj (adding 50 million for 5 seconds for instance) after importing the srt.

It makes life easier for non-technical people to allow importing a srt at a specific offset in the timeline.

We just released Camtasia Studio 8, and I think you'll find we made some improvements that should help related to importing Captions.

The workflow for interacting with your captions on your timeline has changed in Camtasia Studio 8. Captions now belong to a media (the same as how an Animation or Marker would). This allows us to bring in all your captions from a SRT or SMI file and place them on the same media. You can then easily drag the media containing the captions and adjust all of the Caption start times on that media in one step. Also, if the first caption in your SRT or SMI file has a start time after 0 seconds, a blank caption will be added to the beginning of that media.

Here’s a quick video I made demonstrating the new importing behavior of captions from SRT files:

You can learn more about what's new in Camtasia Studio 8 here:

You can try the fully functional trial for 30 days without having to uninstall your previous version of Camtasia Studio.

As always, thanks for posting, and we hope you will continue to share your feedback, ideas, and questions.

The instructions on your Video don't work. The Camtasa studio I downloaded doesn't have such features. The one I downloaded can't upload .srt files.
Move on to next Video Editor trial on the Web because this is just the same.
