Imported GoPro clips stretched out, distorted

For some reason any GoPro clip I am bringing into my Camtasia 9 looks like an infinitely long pencil.  The clips are fine when viewed on the computer but Camtasia is choking on them??  Anyone else see this?

Hello Duf;

As seen in our Support Article covering this exact topic, this is a known issue, though there is a small tool that can be downloaded (see here for more details) that can address this issue.

Hi the problem is marked solved, however it isn't.  When I run that tool on any of the GoPro clips it fails with a - Failed to hide timecode track on file error.  Is there an ETA for a proper fix?

Hi Duf;

If the above did not fix the issue please open a Support Ticket where our team can then request files to determine why the fix did not work. As for an in-product solution, we have no release date at this time.

I'm having this problem too. I have been opening it in windows movie maker, rendering it there and then loading it in camtasia.

Guess what, this problem does not appear to happen with 9.0.0,  something added in 9.0.0.1 did it??

I'm also having this problem with GoPro video. There is no problem with 1080p video from my other camera. My workaround was to play the video, fullscreen on the desktop and use Camtasia to capture the clips that I needed - not much fun to say the least.

I have installed the tool that Robert R suggested and it works but I'm dealing with hundreds of clips, so I sure hope that this gets fixed in Camtasia ASAP.

If you are able to downgrade to 9.0.0 you wont have the problem.  Evidently TerchSmith created the problem with 9.0.1.  I am surprised they haven't fixed it yet as it makes working with GoPro video extremely cumbersome.

I shot 2.7K 1080 60FPS on my GP5 today and it is unusable in Camtasia.
Is this only related to 60FPS video? Can I shoot at 50? Or only 30?

mpk355: Did you try the tool to fix the video (see the first reply in this conversation from Robert R). It fixed my GoPro videos, but mine were shot at 30 FPS, so I don't know whether the tool will also fix videos shot at other FPS rates.

Thanks Phil. I am hoping Tech smith gets their act together and fixes this asap. As it is, Camtsia is not an option for GoPro shooters since so many shoot in high fps. I am stubborn in that adding workflow to fix a normal capability kinda annoys me (:

Is there a solution better than using the RemoveTimeCodeTrack.exe ?  Because I have this Problem

on 100+ GoPro Videos.  When will a patch be released or availble?

Best regards

Bernd

Little disappointing having 200$ program, unable to work with the main action camera. You would think that would be a top priority patch.

The program linked only works on about half of my go pro videos even though all of them were created the same way. This really needs to be fixed or you need to provide people a link to download the 9.0.0 version. Not having a working program is not acceptable for a month.

I agree, they need to make 9.0 available.

Thankfully I found my old 9.0 installer so I was able to revert back and everything is working again. Seems like it should be pretty easy to figure out what changed and put out a patch that reverts that.

Obscure things can break functionality and be difficult to correct at times.

 However, It would seem that TechSmith should make Version 9.0 available and Downloadable for those that may need it.

They offer most older versions of all of their software here.
