Something spontaneous happened while I was recording a clip with Camtasia and now I'd like to save that 4 seconds of sound in the clip bin and add it to another video. Is there a way to do that?

Thanks

If you are using Camtasia Studio 8.3 then if I read your post right with what you are trying to accomplish then yes it can be done.

If you have the audio selected on the timeline (That 4 second clip) you are referring too then all you would need to do is right click on it and select Add playhead selection to Library. Keep in mind that if all you want is the audio and not the video then you would want to lock the track that has the video and then just have the audio selected. It will then save this file in your Library and you can access it anytime you need it.

I hope this helps and let us know. Thanks for posting and have a great day.

Thanks.  I appreciate your help.  You say to lock the video track if I just want the audio, but currently they're both on the same track.  I notice a "Separate video and audio" option though when I right click the clip so I assume I would just do that first and then lock the video track.

Thanks again.

Yes Steve you would want to then separate the video from the audio and just select that 4 second clip or whatever it is you want and do it the same way. You do want to lock the video track as to make sure it does not get something messed up. It is for a safety reason or at least that is how I do it. If you have any problems let us know. And please let us know if this helps you out. User feedback is great and we all learn from each other this way too. Have a great day.
