I have version 5 and I am trying to import and edit files converted to wmv. 5 comes up with a message that it does not have a codec to convert the file. Is this something I can download because my software is an early version???

Hello,
I'm sorry you are having trouble.

Have you tried updating the codec? You can download that file directly from www.microsoft.com.

Also, where did you get the WMV file? You may be attempting to import a corrupted or protected file. In this case, you might see that error message.

Finally, the file you are attempting to import might not be a "valid" WMV file or one that Camtasia Studio 5 can open.

I hope this helps.

Hello,

One thing you could try is to install the latest version of Windows Media Player. It comes with all the codecs that Camtasia Studio needs.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,

Kevin

Hi guys

So how would you do this for a Mac? There is no Windows Media Player. I've got a WMV with no sound [on my mac] here. Latest Flip4Mac doesn't have this codec, rendering the file useless.

It kept crashing out Camtasia on Windows for my colleague so we're in a catch 22..

Actually my mistake!

Flip4Mac worked after a reboot! I now have audio. The file says its damaged when exporting from Quicktime, but I'm able to now convert it to MP4 with full audio using iSkySoft iMedia Converter. This means I can now work with it in anything I like.

Sorry about the previous post!

I was just assisting a Camtasia user on this topic. As Microsoft moves pages around, I just wanted to add that the latest codecs now can be found here:
