I agree with the request and voted for it.
However, I think it probably falls under the category of Retain Formatting.

That being said.
SnagIt's........Grab Text/ORC is driven by ABBYY.

ABBYY Fine Reader is an expensive application that comes with "ABBYY Screen Shot Reader"
You can purchase the screen shot reader for $10.  https://www.abbyy.com/en-us/screenshot-reader/

I don't know if SnagIt will ever license advanced capabilities from ABBYY?
Or if ABBYY is willing to offer/market/sell. TechSmith more capabilities then they already have?

I used the screen shot reader on this image.

Pasted into Excel, I get this.
Formatting isn't 100% identical. But everything's there.

If this is what you're after. Its an option.

Regards,Joe

Hi - I grab Sudoku puzzles from: http://www.sudokuprintables.org/sudoku-printables.html
then grab them and paste them into Excel. There's a glitch at times, make sure you grab all vertical and horizontal lines! Occasionally, I have problems if the perimeter lines are dark enough which can be fix in the editor before Grabbing.

Here's a grab from this morning:

And Excel's paste:

It may work for you.

But it isn't worth a nickle for me, not like in the text table like the one I showed above.

It captures the text and deludes you into thinking it retained formatting.
Heres what I get....
The grab text window looks correct.

Pasted into Excell, I get this.............

What happens if you try it Ed?
Heres the image.
If yours pastes correctly I'll open a ticket with Tech Support tan point them to this post.

Joe - we've had this conversation before and one of the TS guys jumped in and solved my problems - if what you're grabbing has nice black lines surrounding all years, it never misses. I think if you manually put nice black vertical lines  to separate the columns before "grabbing", you'd have a better outcome.

As I said in my initial post.
ABBYY's screen capture utility works much better.
It cost just $10 bucks.

I was simply making a suggestion, as I still don't envision SnagIt improving.

Oh, and by the way Ed.
Table to clipboard is another setting in ABBYY Screenshot reader.

I was using copy to clipboard which threw the paste formatting off.
As you can see, its an  almost flawless paste.
I widened the far right window.
