Playback when editing within Camtasia 9 stutters.  Makes editing a pain!  Laptop meets spec and final MP4 produced is fine

Have experienced this very issue a lot over the years, with Camtasia.
If you have this issue.
Save your project, and then close out of Camtasia
And open it back up.
Sometimes, a Reboot of your system is required to clear the bugs.

Good Luck

Yeah that works for a *little* while, then it starts stuttering again.  Not a real fix.

Do you periodically use a Temp File Cleaner to remove files that every program creates when open and running but rarely removes when closed?

If not, there are several Free Cleaners that I have used for years
with No problems, that is, No ill effects.
If Not, you can Google and pick one.
I use several on a regular basis.
Most people are surprised how much junk files are created and safe to remove.
CCleaner is probably one of the most common.

Yep, but it is the only way I know to get around it.
This issue has been happening since version 6.

I'm having a similar issue that just started tonight while I was making a tutorial video. Whenever I add media to my project, and play back in the program, it stutters for a few seconds, then continues. When it gets to any newly added media, it stutters again, and it's crashed twice so far.

I find that it seems to be connected with the way the wave forms on the tracks sometimes take forever and a day to render. When that happens the playback sounds like Eminm doing a parody of Max Headroom. It's as annoying as all getout and you can't keep shutting down and restarting.
