Hi Kim;
At the top of the Preview window you will see a few items, one of which is the Crop symbol. See:

Hope that helps!

I've tried this multiple times with Camtasia for Windows 9.0.5 and it just keeps moving the whole canvas rather than cropping. The crop feature seems to have regressed since Camtasia 8.

please post a short screencast [host on screencast.com] showing exactly what it is you're experiencing

The crop function is not working for me either and i'm on 9.1.1....
I click the crop icon, then select the area to be cropped, then right clicking the selection does nothing, clicking the crop icon again does nothing, etc....

Are you certain the video clip or image you are trying to crop is selected on the timeline?

to add to Joe's comments ...
select the item on the timeline; note that the grab handles are round
select the crop icon, or, hold down the alt key; note that the grab handles are now square
grab a square handle, move it to crop as desired

I'm having the same issue. I click on the crop button, hold alt, but the handles stay round and I can only shrink the screen, not crop it.

In crop mode .....Holding "Alt" turns the cursor back into the standard edit tool by default.

Nevermind. I figured it out. I tried to crop a track that was a group and was unable to do so. When I clicked on a still image within the group, I could crop the individual image.

one way ...
create a callout that has the dimension you want; put it in Library
with your footage on timeline, add the callout; crop the footage to match the callout; delete the callout

confused ... got this notice, and responded ...
"Does anyone know how to set a custom crop size / predefined crop window dimensions that can be moved over the full canvas to select the area you want to crop outside of?
I can see how to slide the arrows to crop but I don't see the dimensions of your crop window annotated anywhere for informational purposes. I need this because the site I wanted to use the finished product on forces a standard square dimension format on me and that makes my image/video look distorted/out of proportion since it is natively widescreen format.
Like in IrfanView for instance, under Edit there is a option called "Create custom crop selection..." that brings up a window where you can enter exact dimensions for your crop tool to slide over the image. "
was the post deleted???

you can also trigger crop mode by selecting the clip and then holding down the ALT key; that will change the handles from circles to squares

Press ALT, crop, let go...boom...done.
