I'm rendering a video to MP4 in Camtasia 7 which I've done several times before without a problem. But for some reason when I play the rendered video in WMP the video doesn't play in sync with the audio. The audio plays fine but the video just plays a little bit then freezes. I usually record at 1280 x 720 but this is the first time recording full screen on a monitor. The res is 1680 x 1050. When I first tried to upload this 1 min 10 sec vid to youtube it would play fine (audio and video the way it should be) but get to 1:01 and freeze. It would actually say 1:10 was the running time of the vid but when I clicked on it to play it would then change to 1:01. REALLY weird. So not sure if Camtasia is having an out-of-the-blue rendering issue or if it's maybe a problem with Windows Media Player. Thanks

Hi Billy,

I'm sorry that you are experiencing this issue. Just a few troubleshooting questions:

- You using the "Custom production settings" production path and choosing "MP4," correct?
- You are also producing the video without a flash controller, correct?
- What is the quality setting under "flash options?" Here's a screenshot showing how to get to the quality option: http://screencast.com/t/McS5FKdsc
- If you render the same video using a different output format (e.g., AVI, MOV) is the produced video still out of sync with the audio?

Theoretically the quality setting should not cause this issue, I'm just trying to track down what the root cause could be.

Thanks for the help Cameron, I overcame this problem somehow, can't remember how I did it though it was quite a while ago. But I have a new problem with Camtasia 7 unfortunately. The audio levels in the audio file are displaying fine but the playback isn't consistent. By that I mean I'm playing the video and the playhead will go over a flat line of audio (no sound) and the audio will still be audible. It's playing the audio where it shouldn't.

Gabriel,

I'm really sorry for the long delay in my response. In answer to your question, I know that Camtasia Studio has had trouble in the past editing and producing AVIs that are generated by FRAPS. Usually this is a result of an odd frame rate, large file size, or a combination of factors. The following posts might help you work around the issue you're experiencing:

Hello,

Great news! We've just released Camtasia Studio 8, which we've redesigned from the ground up for better stability and performance. We think there's a good possibility that this particular issue has been resolved in the latest version.

Part of the re-write includes a brand-new rendering engine that takes advantage of GPU acceleration for fast decoding and rendering. It has been designed to be much more robust than in previous versions of Camtasia Studio.

You can download a free, fully-functional 30-day trial of Camtasia Studio 8 here: http://www.techsmith.com/camtasia-wha.... There's no need to remake the project files -- Camtasia Studio 8 will upgrade projects from version 6 or later.

Thank you again for your feedback!
