I would like to create an experience where the user can walk through steps just as they would an application - where they can type directly into the box and then click Save (example) and they move to the next step.  Is this possible?

No, Camtasia would not be a good tool to create an interactive prototype. It would be great for the explanations in-between, but not for that part.

Hi there

What you are describing is called a "Software Simulation". This is something where Adobe Captivate and other tools shine. Adobe Captivate also allows screen recording like Camtasia does, but Camtasia blows it out of the water with the video editing environment. I want BOTH tools in my toolbox if possible, so I can exploit the strengths of each tool. Likewise, when I recognize the weakness of each tool.

What I have done in the past is use Captivate for such things, and if Camtasia videos are even needed, use links for those, to pop them open in a different window. I even store the Camtasia videos themselves on a different server, and they aren’t even part of the SCORM package! It seems that there ought to be more affordable software simulation tools that Captivate.

WRT the price thing, I'm not a big Adobe defender here, but I believe offer a monthly subscription to Captivate. I suppose that could defray cost a bit if that's an issue. Then again, there's the whole learning loss thing where if you don't use a product often, you tend to lose proficiency with using the product.

Thank you all.  Yes I have Captivate and can do it there.  I just prefer Camtasia :-) .  I'm trying to figure out the technology used by wrike in their product tour.  Was hoping Camtasia would get me there.  Thank you again!
