Is it possible to record multiple audio sources within the computer itself (and separate them into different audio channels)?

I want to record a gameplay while talking on Skype with friends. I wanted the game audio be separated from the Skype one, so I can edit/adjust the game sounds and conversation separately.

Something like, game is one audio channel and Skype is another one.

Sorry if my question sound silly. I've started learning video editing fairly recently.

Thanks for your attention!

I think there are a few ways to accomplish this, all require separate sound channels or cards that can create separate sound files.  See if this sounds about right:

Very reasonably priced and you can grow as many channels as you like. When it comes to mixing the tracks you'll need a mixer and software, I use "Cool Edit Pro" which is no longer available but I think Audacity will do what you need and it's free.  https://www.audacityteam.org/
