Is it possible to remove all sections with silence from the video at once?

I want to remove all sections of silence from the video. I know other software programs can do it. If it's not there, it's a great feature to add. A lot of YouTubers would thank Camtasia. I saw there was an optional way to vote for features, but I think a lot of the community won't see that or doesn't know it exists, so even if a lot of people want that feature, they're not going to know to upvote it.

I just migrated to Camtasia from Screencast-O-Matic. If you don't mind paying  $18 for the SOM licence, this workaround is effective: take the final mp4 from Camtasia, load it into SOM and enter Edit mode. SOM  will then cut or slow down silences automatically. The silence length is adjustable. More in the video at the bottom of this page:

Annoying to have to do this but worth it for the screen time saved (ca.20%)and the improved feel to the final production.

This function is not available if you import MP4. It only works if you record with the Screen-O-Matic software. So I lost $18 for the SOM License since Camtasia is my choice for recording and editing video. I which that Camtasia add this feature. It is very cool.

Definitely works for me on SOM v2.2.24. You first need to make a blank SOM recording (e.g. 1 second) , then go to edit mode.
Click Tools/Insert/Video File and insert your mp4. Click Speed up or Cut all Silence in the usual way. Finally, remove (Cut) the 1 second of dummy recording at the beginning.

Hey, I had this problem when editing a ton of videos for YouTube. I got pretty frustrated so I created a solution myself. It's pretty simple you just drag and drop the video. Check it out at autoeditvideo.com

If you want to build it yourself, I used a library called ffmpeg. This library has a tool called silentdetect which allowed to detect all silent parts of the video. Then I flipped that to get all the non-silent parts, cut those parts out and merged them all back together. It should work with most video formats.

Hope this helps somebody out! :)

I would pay for this as an extension to Camtasia! It looks like your domain is for sale now?

I used to feel the same way.
However, when recording a screen to creating tutorials. There will be times you don't talk for a moment. Then the cursor , onscreen menus, or other visual clues/media.Wind up doing all the talking for you.
If all of these moments are deleted automatically?

I think its a great concept for some certain things. For Camtasia? I'm not sure its a good fit for most. This is my opinion obviously.
I use After Effects among other programs.A plug-in has been available for After Effects since 2012 that does the same thing.
I seriously considered purchasing it for myself. https://aescripts.com/awkward-pause/
I used the free trial.
It wasn't for me.

Just my thoughts
Regards,Joe

Great feedback. On the roadmap for TimeBolt is compress silence past a specified duration to just speed up important visual cues. For example, delete silence under 5 sec else compress to 25%.

That seems like a step in the right direction. Not sure I'd want my cursor zooming around the screen in spurts?
Perhaps easy-out and ease-in key frames would be required? Preferably user adjustable ones.

Hey guys, I reposted the correct link above that was previously broken. The video I made will show you how to remove audio pauses along with the correlating segment of video. So video and audio will both be removed simultaneously. Check the new link above that I just posted 5 minutes ago. Hope to solve your problem.
