Jing is fabulous - a neat, easy to use screen capture tool that is enough for many use cases.

But as flash will be killed off by 2020 - and is already deprecated in many instances - will Jing's output be upgraded to a non-flash container?  My only conclusion if it isn't - is that Jing will die out with Flash - which would be very sad :-(

I previously replied to this post (about four months ago) that "we are currently working to output to mp4 instead of flash."   We are still committed to providing a free mp4 solution, but after assessing the actual cost to rework the existing code base  and UI, we have made the difficult decision to not provide mp4 via Jing.  Instead, we will be building a new free recorder, integrated with Screencast.com, that supports mp4 as well as a couple other major features that Jing doesn't currently have.   We will provide some more detail in a formal announcement that will be pinned to Jing and Screencast categories in a few weeks.
