I have a 10 min video on the timeline which has been edited. A 12 sec piece of it was added to the library from the timeline. Can I now pull this onto the same timeline from the library and edit it again without affecting the first piece?

OK, I just tried it, tentatively, and I think the answer is yes.

Yes, as you discovered, you can edit a library asset on the timeline without affecting the original that is saved in your library. Once it is on the timeline, any edits you make to it only affect that instance of it on the timeline. It will not change how it appears in the library, how it appears in other timelines, or how it appears if you added it previously to the same timeline.

If you do make changes, and then want to use the changed asset in other projects, or again in the same timeline, you can save it back to the library again and give it a new name.

I hope this helps!
