I have to say this, after spending many hours on editing a flowchart, I am dead sure I pressed ctrl+s to save the .snag file, still I stand in utter dismay to see that it did not save, now I have to start the whole thing over again.

Please feel my anger..

Seems to be working here; where did you save it too? Perhaps the *.snag file is there, albeit in a different location than expected. Try a search on the filename and see what happens.

In addition to what Timbre4 offered, have you looked in your library? Perhaps you will discover it there?

Have a look in the 'Open Recent" sub-menu of the 'File' menu in the 'Editor.' If it is there, open it and then use "Ctrl>Shft>S" to have the 'Save as' dialogue box open and you will see where the file was saved in the address box at the top.

A word of advice, get in the habit of using "Save as" and put the work in your own file. ( I use a portable SSD ) this way if something happens to corrupt Snagit on the computer, it will not effect your work. it still saves a copy in the Snagit folder anyway.  lesson in learned the hard way several years ago with Snagit 9.

Exactly, I think the library will do.
However, SnagIt doesn't auto save recovery information every "X" number of minutes.
So to the best of my knowledge, 3 or 4 hours into a session.
A power loss or crash would loss all your work as well.

And to be quite honest, if your investing hours creating flowcharts. You should seriously consider using another program.

To the best of my knowledge SnagIt only saves one copy of a file, either to the default library location (in my case, it is in "C:\Users\$username$\Documents\Snagit") or to a location of your choice when you choose 'Save as' from the 'File' menu or by using the 'Ctrl-Shft-S' shortcut key combo.
