It's a pain to go to "Page Setup" and then to "Print". One click should let me do the setup and then click on the Print button

The most frequent use of Snagit is to print a capture, either to paper or to pdf.  Right now, it's too many key clicks to set up the page, mostly Fill to width or to Page.  I don't mind going to File/Page setup, but then to have to go to File/Print because the setup OK button backs you out of the menu completely is a nuisance that could easily be removed.

There is ways to not have to bounce back to "File..." so much.

I'm on windows 10 but maybe these will also save you some time and clicks

One way is to just click print. File>>Print>>Print.

That will give you this window.

You can then click the page setup or properties which will open another windows to make those setting
but when you close or click OK the print window above will still be there and you can then click Print.

No going back to File..Print etc.

Another way is to use Print Preview. File>>Print>>Print Preview.

That will open this window

Here you can do every thing from the tool bar.
Again no going back and forth to the File... menu.

:)

Tammo,

I'd follow Dubie's advice.  The chances of this request receiving enough votes is slim because many users rarely print, but send their captures into soft formats.  More important, that's where TechSmith are concentrating their development.

I was hoping that a preset that shared to printer might give you what you want.  And it still might if you can set the printer's properties to always use print preview.  If you don't do that the orint will go straight to the printer, I believe.  It's worth trying.

You can also add Page Setup and Print as icons on your SnagIt toolbar.

Thank you all for your inputs.  Actually simplicity itself if I hadn't been suffering from tunnel vision LOL.  I never tried the Print icon on the toolbar (same as File/Print) and then noticed the Page Setup button in that print window.  Duh  So, your help all steered me in this simple direction.  Thanks all.

One followup question though:  Can I save that print setup to be a default?  I mostly (about 95% of the time) use Fill to Width.  Would be nice to be able to skip that setup unless I need to change it on those rare occasions.

You can get to the presets by clicking the "Manage Presets" button on the One-click flyout
Or open the capture window then click the + sign to make a new preset.

Click on the Images to enlarge them:

In the new preset creation window click the Image tab.
In the "Share field" select Printer and then click on the little gear which will open the Printer setup window.

Make your page and printer properties settings and that  Preview in Editor is on.

Click the Green "Save Preset" button when done and the give your preset a name.

Now use that preset to make your capture which will open in the editor.
Do what you need to do and then click the Green Finish button and and your capture will be off to the printer.

Your last post was up just before I posted. I see you are using  Snagit 8 which I can't remember the UI and options from that far back. Sorry.

I'll leave my post up which is Snagit 2018 if it helps on your win 10 machine or for anyone else it may benefit.

I understand there are still many folks that live in pockets across the country that consider all modern things evil.  ;)

But in all seriousness, I really like the things they have done with the latest versions. The new features allow me to overcome the uncomfortable changes. You grow accustomed to things being different.

Cheers... Rick :)

ROFL.  I love your reply.  Some old worn out gloves are simply too familiar to give up despite the holes.

Dubie, thanks as well for your extensive guide.  I will certainly apply that to my Win 10 system.  I'll also try it with Profiles in Snagit 8, in case that basic concept works there.

I must be missing something.

I just had to print for the first time in ages.  Windows Ctrl+P and Enter.  And the page setup button is right there if I need it.

Now THERE'S Amish for you.
