Is there a way to incorporate Japanese captions? Are there apps that can generate Japanese SMIL/SAMI files that you know about and can recommend?

Hi Chris, were you ever able to add Japanese captions? I am looking to do the same.

Yes, you can import SRT files (and I think SAMI) files. I use SRT files. Typically, I caption my videos in English first, export the SRT file for translation. Then I open my project and rename it to reflect the translated language, such as myproject_JP.

You can access the captioning tool the toolbar below the left pane. If you don't see the CC tool listed, click More on the toolbar and select it from there. Hope this helps.

Oops, forgot to mention that you then import your translated file into your project. Interestingly, I noticed that in version 8.12, you can have more than one language represented. Before it was only one at a time. In my case, I can see the English captions on one track and the Japanese captions on the other.
