There has been a lot of discussion about where Capture needs to improve. The simple answer, which is clear from many of the posts is that people want the Jing lightweight, efficient functionality and ease of use, not just bits of it. The whole ball of wax. Then maybe there are things that could be done better, but the existing functionality is the spec.

I know there are technical reasons for Capture being different, like shared code etc. but there is a danger that this overloads Capture and creates a clunkier tool with a much bigger footprint/resource usage, than Jing had, this is a significant negative.

Sorry guys, you developed something brilliant with Jing. Now anything less just won't cut it.

Just for the record, I have bought Snagit, mostly because I feel I ought to contribute to the value I've had from Jing, but also because Capture, as it stands, doesn't do it for me. So getting Snagit functionality to be as simple and elegant as Jing would be a major success

Making Capture as loved as Jing is a tall order, but we have a team working every day to do just that.  It is going to take a long time. Capture will never be the same as Jing; our goal is for it to be better...  We have much work to do; we are listening.

I agree with muganga.  He coudn't have said it better. I too tried Snagit because Jing was perfect but I didn't purchase Snagit and should contribute something.   Jing works well.  I'm very thankful for the use of Jing and hope that Capture is functional very similar to Jing.  I'm not sure how you make something more perfect, "better".  The people who love Jing are not looking for a Snagit or a better Jing.  Maybe you can explain what is meant by a better.  As long as the better includes providing the functionality of Jing many folks will be happy.  Capture does have a new handy feature for selecting the frame, a magnifiying glass.  The auto selecting the window, or frame, is nice.  The added functions, arrow, color, callout, shape, highlight...etc, found in preview are more like Snagit, as I recall, and not really needed.   We will see as we are forced to use Capture.  They are both free and we have been really spoiled by Jing.  Thank you very much for Jing. We all hope that Capture will meet our needs as much as Jing did.

I don't think so. If they will give a product as Jing on Capture. I'm pretty sure they ask subscription.

Moving forward. I wish they will give as Jing did.

Yes, Jing was free, but Jing promoted a subscription to Screencast Pro. Most web services are like that...  some level for free, increasingly advanced services available for a fee.
