The community moderator provided the following reason for archiving: Windows 8 has been in release for quite some time now and because this post deals with the consumer preview, I'm removing it.

I realize I'm the early adopter here and this is certainly not meant to be a complaint, but I've found that Jing will always crash on launch when installed on Windows 8 x64 Consumer Preview.

Here's what I was able to find in the Event Log:

Fault bucket -1485487290, type 5
Event Name: CLR20r3
Response: Not available
Cab Id: 0

Problem signature:
P1: jing.exe
P2: 2.6.12032.1
P3: 4f298feb
P4: System
P6: 4f14d500
P7: 1b38
P8: 75
P9: System.UriFormatException

Most of it probably isn't relevant, but thought I'd share anyways. Again, not expecting a fix, but thought I'd report it since I haven't seen anyone else post about this.

Today we released a Jing update that works on Windows 8 preview builds. You can check for updates within Jing if you haven't been notified that an update is available.

We are working on updating all of our products to work on Windows 8, they all have different challenges and time lines. We will provide more updates here as soon as we have any new information or releases.

Thank you for your patience. Please continue to send your feedback and questions.

Thank you,
