Jittery Animation Output with Pan/Zoom animations

I'm experiencing jittery animation output when I pan/zoom images. I can minimize this by setting the Animation Easing to "none", but it's still not quite perfectly smooth. You can see this occurring in the first scene of the attached video.

Is it a known issue? We're looking to implement a Camtasia workflow university-wide for creating narrated-learning videos and this is the one issue that is giving us pause.

I really appreciate your help!

I see the same, only it is worse with a zoom.

Another aspect related to this is I see the "speed" of the animation as slower in the beginning and end, but yet see no way to change any setting.

Rt click  on the Animation and you will see Animation Easing. Change this to None from Auto.

  1. Are you referring to the pan-zoom from 0:05 to 0:22? There appears to be some jitter left-right during the vertical pan.
  2. Am I correct that there is both a pan and a zoom applied? or perhaps a zoom plus a behavior?
If both of the answers are "yes," then you may have an interaction between the rates of the two effects, as mentioned by bill.wandersleben above. Set them both to the same option, or set them both to "none" which is safest.

If the answer is "no" perhaps you can take a screen capture of the entire timeline during the segment in question, so we can look at how the pan is being achieved.

  1. Indeed!
  2. There's a "Custom" animation applied, and i've panned and zoomed a bit.
...so I don't think it's an interaction issue between two effects. I've attached a screen capture and I really appreciate you help!

I think what is happening is that, during the long slow pan upwards, a small amount of panning to the left is taking place. This small motion is difficult to handle during the long slow pan. This is not a Camtasia issue-any animation/motion package would probably have the same problem.

It doesn't look like the small pan to the left is a major part of your production-it's only a few pixels. Given that Brunelleschi is gazing toward the left, you probably want to leave his sight line open by having the statue very slightly to the right of center. Fix the slow vertical pan so that it goes straight up, without moving even a few pixels in either direction. The jitter will disappear.

You're right, killing off the subtle diagonal and turning off easing did make the final animation much smoother. I wish I weren't constrained like that, but I definitely appreciate the work-around! Thanks again!
