Keep Links Is Missing From SnagIt 13?!

'Keep Links' is the most useful feature for me and I was truly disappointed and surprised that it has been eliminated from SI 13. My jaw is still open. Whaaaaaaaaaaaat?!
Did Coke remove carbonated water when they tried a new formula?
No!
Would the sun be the sun if it gave off no warmth?
No!
Would a bear be a bear if it had no fur?
Well, yeah. BUT it would be an ugly bear.
I really need to preserve links in converted pages. It is such a convenience and time saver.
I used it frequently. Now I have to go back and edit the text adding the link URLs.
So, please put this useful feature back into your product.

Seriously...

Thanks

Hi there!

We do have a support article covering this particular topic located at: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/218529708-Snagit-Windows-Removal-of-hotspots-and-kee...

As an aside, I have switched this thread from "Problem" to "Idea" as the removal of "Keep Links" was intentional. Setting the thread to an "Idea" allows other members to weigh in on whether they would like us to revisit the concept.

I did follow the link but it didn't really explain anything. Why would they remove features? Links was not on my high priprity list but it was useful and there are people who used it a lot

I agree with Rick. When I purchased v13 and discovered this feature had been eliminated I found the page referred to in the link above.
They try to explain why it was eliminated, however, that explanation made no sense to me.

HI there Robert,
I don't understand how you can classify this as an "idea"  and justify that by saying "the removal of "Keep Links" was intentional". Seems more like a "problem" to  the users than an "idea".

If it was intentionally removed for whatever reason, perhaps it needs to be listed as an idea in order for it to be on the radar to add it back in?

See how many folks actually vote for the idea to gauge interest before expending the effort to re-add it?

Perhaps this is similar to discovering how many things are on an electrical circuit. You turn the power off at that breaker and see if (or how many) things stop working as a result.

Just thinking out loud a bit... Rick :)

If you kept your previous version intact (my upgrade did not alter my existing v12) then you could just switch to v12 to get that functionality "back." The library (DB) is shared between both versions. To negate any issues, close the one version before you start up the other version. HTH

One must keep 2 versions installed to maintain functionality? Sorry Patt - no with you on this one

I know we SHOULD NOT have to, but to preserve my sanity, I toggle between versions until they get Version 13 to the point, I feel it's as good as or better than v12. I work in Software Development so understand the "as good as if not better" criteria. Unfortunately, for this SnagIt user since v 6.x, I find a lot of changes I experience in v13 "not as good" than v12. I use SnagIt constantly throughout my workday so I'm just happy I can toggle between both when I need to preserve my sanity.

I had to purchase v13 because v12 stopped working for me.

Reinstall v12.  It should work.  I have vs 11,12 and 13 installed and they all work. I use v11 regularly but occasionally fire up the other two.  It all should work together but, of course, only one version can run at any single instance.

PLEASE bring this functionality back! I didn't realize it had disappeared with V. 13 as it was still intact in V. 12. it was actually a major selling point for bringing SnagIt to my workplace, as it allows us to preserve and share web articles with links for an internal learning library.

I miss this feature. It was one of the main reasons I installed this software over my company's default offerings.
