Keep .snag files when using "save as" feature

This seems to have been discussed at length over the years, but I want to bring it back up.

When using the "save as" feature the .snag file is removed from the library.  I propose this should change.

Whenever discussed previously, a common response is that the library is to be considered a temporary store of unsaved captures and as soon as an image is saved elsewhere it is no longer required in the library.  I propose that many people do not use the library in this manner and we treat it as a single destination for keeping captures in one place in an easily searchable format.  Once an image is in my library I know where to find it, I can re-use it as an asset and I expect for it to always be there.

Please consider adopting the library as a permanent asset library and preventing Snagit from deleting the .snag files when saved elsewhere in another format.

What version are you using Tony?  I found this in the Mac change log for 2019...

I have both version 2018 and 2019, but with all the problems with 2019, I stopped using it. (wasted my money).  Thanks for the reply!

Hi Tony,

I looked through some of your earlier posts on here and it seems like many of the issues you've seen have been resolved. Are there still problems in 2019 that you're seeing?

I agree with you Matthew! Seems like there should be an option for that somewhere!

Interesting that the Mac version already has this feature!  So would TechSmith consider implementing the same functionality in the Windows version?

I use my “.snag” files as a history of important items. When I receive an email with important information or fill out a form online or I “snag” something important from the web, I know I can go back through my Snagit library and find this item.  However, if the “.snag” was saved as something else - to be placed in a Dropbox file for example, I lose this connection.
I think Snagit has functions, such as this, that perhaps Techsmith hadn’t really planned for, but does exist for many people.   I too would like to have items that are saved out of Snagit, copied out to “save as” instead of removing from Snagit’s library.

Also, don't *.snag files remain editable after saving as opposed to not being able to change a file saved in another format? What I mean is, if you take two images and combine them into one, you can still manipulate each image individually in a *.snag file but you can't in a file saved in another format.
