Keyboard Shortcut Suggestions to help Camtasia "Power User"

I'm a regular (almost daily) user of Camtasia in a corporate environment. I mostly create VSLs, and opted for Camtasia because of I can create these kinds of videos much faster with it than, say, Premiere Pro.

I particularly like how fast shortcuts like simply pressing "s" on selected media to split it make things. With that in mind, I would like to proffer suggestions for related shortcuts that would certainly make my usage easier and, maybe, do the same for others too.

1. I frequently add images and them split them at a particular point as I listen to an accompanying audio track. I then delete the remainder of the image to the right of the split point. But I have to select that with the mouse to do so. So a shortcut to delete anything after the split point for that particular image (or whatever you split) would be VERY handy.

2. A (probably better) alternative to the above would be a shortcut to have the end of the media I just added snap to the playhead (whether the playhead is located before or after then end of the media). Sometimes the default length of the images I add (for example) is either long or shorter than the point I want it to end at in the audio track. So, if I can add an image to the timeline at the playhead (any shortcut for that too? :-) )... then let the audio track play to the point I want the image to end... and then press <something> that makes the end of that image snap to the playhead (regardless of whether the playhead is before or after where the image currently ends).

I hope that makes sense!

Thanks,
Thomas.

Hi there

"I frequently add images and them split them at a particular point"

Note that an image is just a piece of media on the timeline and it has a duration. While it's certainly possible to split, why? Why not just grab the edge of the end point of the image and adjust it so the duration is what you need? That would save you the trouble of having to later delete the unwanted duration.

As for adding the image at the playhead, just position the playhead where you want, then from the Media Bin, right-click and choose to add to timeline at playhead. Sorry, to my knowledge there is no hotkey what will perform this action.

Cheers... Rick :)

Hi,

Thanks for the replies.

I know you can just grab the end of the image and adjust it, but that becomes a very slow and tedious operation when you have 500-1000 images per project :-)

I tried uploading a gif showing the exact process I'm talking about to illustrate it better, but keep getting an internal server error :-(

Here it is on Imgur though: http://imgur.com/a/RfcmR

Thanks,
Thomas
