Launch screencast, audio and talking-head recordings from Camtasia

I'm making a ton of screencasts of my iPad with a talking head video in the corner. Right now I'm recording the talking head part through an external camera and mic, through Camtasia on my Mac. The annoying part is syncing the screencast from my iPad: even though I'm using TechSmith's screencast app, there doesn't seem to be any way link my iPad directly as an input-source to Camtasia on my computer (i.e. select iPad screen instead of computer screen) - it this were possible, it would save having to constantly sync up the different recordings (which gets old, fast).

The external mic and video are synced?
I've not tried ipad recording in a while and I know some options changed for this recently due to some changes Apple made, but...
Not that long ago, you used to be able to connect the ipad to your Mac with a lightning cable and then camtasia mac would do the recording of your iPad. I don't have my ipad handy to try, or I'd confirm if thats still an option, but it seems worth trying if you haven't already.

You still can record an iPad. I use X-Mirage to mirror the iPad on my iMac.
