Less then impressed with 2018

I have several issues with 2018 and how it is now functioning. It has added many more clicks to working with edits and capturing the screen that is a pain. Version 8 as a simple and quick tool to use.

First off the Record will not stay open, I have to constantly press the record button in the upper left of the editor to open it. Is there a way to leave it open so that I can just use the hotkeys to start a capture?

Second, when adding new recordings to  the time line it separates the audio and video. I don't want them separate as it is possible to move one without the other and I have to constantly select both adding far more clicks. I'm aware of the grouping feature but this adds even more clicks and doesn't resolve the other issues of separate tracks. You can only have one group open at a time adding even more clicks when using them.

When rendering the "Organize and Produce Files into Subfolders" keep being checked each time forcing even more clicks as I have to constantly turn this off and keep forgetting it. Which then means I'm copy, pasting and deleting folders each time.

Are there any ways to revert these to the old behaviours? If not I will be asking for my money back on this "Upgrade"

I believe the second issue is being caused by changes in the recorder not the editor. If I record in 8 and import to 2018 I get one track. If I record in 2018 and import to 8 I get two. Why on earth would that be changed.

You might want to examine the recording settings. It's possible that one version is recording System audio (which results in a second audio track) while the other is not. (when you don't record system audio, you have a single audio track that is combined with the screen recording until you choose to separate them)

Cheers... Rick :)

1. launch Recorder using the shortcut on the start menu; pin Recorder to the task bar; launch Recorder using the task bar icon; configure Recorder to just "save" after a capture; that should keep Recorder open between captures

2. check Recorder settings in 2018 to be sure you are not capturing both mic and system audio; if capturing both, you will get a video/mic capture and a system audio capture [if I recall correctly]

3. do a full custom production with your desired sub folder option selection; all subsequent productions should remember the sub folder setting

I have a custom render settings. This does not save it.
Frankly, other then the speed of rendering, 2018 gives me little to nothing that I can't already do. When I need complex edits I go to Premiere.

As for system audio it might be the case but I have already uninstalled it at this point. Just nothing in it that will do any more then V8. There were a couple small things with the time line that were nice but others that were changed that produced a worse solution. Like Groups not showing the sound track.

I like the Dark UI better, but that isn't worth $133
