Library go direct to latest date

I wish that when I click on library, i just want to see the whole list of dates of captures with focus on the date of most recent capture, rather than somewhere in the displayed application list. If not that by default, could that be a preferences option? In fact, the application list isn't useful to me; maybe to some. Could there be a preferences option to not display the application list from the library?  Yes, I know that there is the "Recents" link.  That helps but doesn't solve the entire issue.

Perhaps this will help?

You can arrange the library by "Details" instead of Thumbnails.
Then, listed by date captured by clicking on the word "Date"above the columns.

On my installation, the Library defaults to whatever attribute you looked at last.  So if I choose a date say a month ago, leave the library, and them come back again I can pick up where I left off.

I find this behaviour irritating and helpful in equal measure because sometimes  it serves me well and at others it drives me mad.
