Without Color and Contrast.  A lighter colored interface will probably still not look very good.

I hope I'm not posting this to late. The mini toolbar is very difficult to see.

Regards, Joe

Totally agree, but I think our battles need to occur in phases. I'll be happy enough if the black gets changed. Then hopefully focus can go on the other stuff later.

Sure seems they could have saved themselves a BUNCH of grief and work by offering a beta and gathering input before just changing things, eh?

The emperor needs to be gently made aware that he is nekkid. ;)

Cheers... Rick :)

I am using the trial version of snagit.  I can't understand why the white is gray. I use another program that's black and white. I don't have any trouble using it. I like the color a lot more.

After testing Snagit 12 (in a sandbox VM), I agree with apparently quite a few others that the black theme is quite oppressive. Why a company with smart people like TechSmith came up with the dumb decision to not provide other themes is beyond me.

Aside from the fixed black them of the ribbon, you can change the "background" easily -- that is, the background of the main editor window can be changed to various other preset colors or "custom" --  but even then this is spoiled by the fact that the context menus are still that oppressive black, which clashes badly with a light background.

TechSmith's usability team and product management slipped up really badly with this aspect of Snagit 12..

Please fix ASAP, I will happily keep using Snagit 11 until this is rectified.

Hey Everyone,

Great news! Snagit 12.2 went live this morning with a new, lighter theme you can toggle to. Snagit should prompt you to update, but if not, go ahead and check for updates manually!

Here is a quick video showing you how to switch:
