location of all files used by Camtasia

Greetings,

Camtasia 9.x.x for Windows saves various files in various locations.

Please provide a complete listing of every default directory in which Camtasia writes to disk, and please also include whether or not that location is able to be changed via the application.

In other words, please provide a listing, as noted above, and break it down as to where within Camtasia (under what menu, etc, or registry setting, etc,) that default location can be changed, and note the locations that are not changeable (if any) within the application.

I have located some (perhaps all?) of the above.  But I do not know if my findings are complete.  Only Camtasia Tech Support personnel can provide an exhaustive list.

Thank you.

Hi there

I like this idea very much. Always helpful to have this type of documentation.

Perhaps you might consider sharing your own findings so that we can contribute and add to it if we know of other things?

Cheers... Rick :)

Hi Rick,

My findings are disorganized, because I have already made changes.  So I no longer know the default locations.  Also, I have tried to redo some changes, and I cannot find the menu option to make the change (which is frustrating, because I had made the change in the past).

I am scratching my head, wondering if, perhaps, a software update/rollout  from Camtasia removed the menu item that makes the change?

This is one of the reasons I am asking Camtasia personnal to please provide a listing.  They wrote the program.  They coded what goes where.

I am not seeking source code -- just the locations of where data is written, and where the user can click to choose a different location.

Rick, are you employed by Camtasia?

Thank you.

LOL, define "employed by Camtasia".

The answer is no. I'm not a TechSmith employee. I'm just an enthusiastic user that likes to help because it always helps me learn things deeper.

I think I'll perform an install on my wife's PC and make some notes. It has never seen Camtasia before. I'll be back later with something to share.

Cheers... Rick :)
