Lost audio during editing

I produced a 35 min CS8 project and watched it several times but on the third editing session, lost the audio. The waveform is still there but no sound. I did get an annoying volume slider in the upper left corner that kept closing down the volume, and seems connected to the problem, but it has disappeared too.

Camtasia  for Windows has no Volume Slider control. The only slider type action for volume control is located on the Audio track itself, in the timeline. See Image below, Click to enlarge
I don't know what volume slider control you would be seeing but my first thought is that it's the Audio Control associated to your sound card or installed audio device for your computer.
Is there any way you can upload a screenshot? That would help a lot.

Regards, Joe

I sometimes have a similar thing using Camtasia as well as Premiere Pro. Generally, I restart the application and things are back to normal.

Personally, I think it's likely a memory fragmentation thing.

Cheers... Rick :)

Thank you Joe for your reply. That is the information I need. I must have something going on with the sound card or sound system somewhere. Gratefully, the sound has returned. I did restart without effect. The problem is in the computer somewhere. Thank you.
