Lost audio track after edits, can the tscproj file be edited to sync the audio with the edited video track?

I was working in editing a video file and I managed to delete the audio track and saved the project file!

I've been trying to tinker with the tscproj file to get the track back with the edited segments but it's not working. I used a MP4 video file for source and  separated the video from the audio

Has anyone tampered with the tscproj file to recreate an audio track (from the untouched source) to match with the synced edits done to the video track?

This file is over 5 hours long and I managed to reduce it to 3, redoing the whole thing will be a lot of work...

Thank you

start over with the original video; Camtasia editing never modifies the original

also, if this happens again, with project still open , use undo

Thanks, but I'm looking for an alternative to starting over. I know that the original will stay the same, that's why I'm interested in manually editing the xml content in the tscproj file to recreate the edited audio track.

I can't imagine how that could be possible without a copy of the .tscproj file before you separated/deleted the audio

maybe contact free tech support?
