macOS 10.15 Catalina support

Hi Mac Users,

Apple announced their next version of macOS yesterday and we've had a chance to take our app for a spin on it. If you're looking to install the beta, there's a few things to be aware of.

The first thing is you'll need to grant access to Snagit (or Camtasia) to be allowed to capture the screen. Without this access, you can only capture a blank desktop.

Second is folder permissions. In the case of Snagit, accepting this dialog is required to be able to view your library.

Third, the system audio component fails to install. We've notified the third party vendor of this issue and we'll release a fix once we get an updated version from them.

We will be working over the summer to improve these workflows, but for now if you accept these dialogs (or check them in System Preferences), then the rest of the workflows are working relatively smoothly so far.

If you do run into any issues not mentioned here, let us know!

Hi folks,

We have added Catalina support, most importantly with system audio fixes, in the following updates:

Snagit 2019.1.6
Snagit 2020
Camtasia 2018.0.11
Camtasia 2019.0.5

We're aware of some issues with screen recording permissions that we're working to resolve, but most issues can be fixed with these stepsĀ https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034561752-Only-Desktop-Captured-Using-Snagit-on-Mac

If you're running into anything not listed here, I would encourage you to open a ticket with our Tech Support staff.
