manual arrangements of photos in Media Bin

Sorting photos for a video presentation would be greatly enhanced, vs current options, if it could be done manually. Importing photos from camera can result in different naming protocols and they can get jumbled in the media bin. A manual movement would help, along with "locking" position in media bin in manual movements, say during save of project.

Good idea

I do a lot of photo slide show videos, and better photo handling within the bin would be a big help

your manual arranging is something I've often wanted

another bin issue for me is the size of photo thumbnails in the bin; to my eyes, current sizing is too small; would prefer that photo thumbnails be displayed at twice current size [full bin width]; would make selecting between very similar photos a lot easier

also, do you use Adobe's Lightroom to support your photo work?  I use its "quick collection" tool as a workaround for the reordering thing

I agree the Media center could use a helping hand.  Preserving order of list has always been a problem for developers. MS doesn't seem to be helpful in this area either!  I do a lot with still photos in Camtasia and frequently have a full media bin. Naming the images is better way to handle the photos than the name the camera gave the image but I have to revert back the old DOS days of short names.
Here are a few thoughts,
  • Allow a flyover to expose the full name when truncated. Currently I can see the full name if I Rename but to me that's a workaround.
  • Give user control of the size or thumbnail, Small, Medium, or Large would be nice. I use a MacBook Pro 15 so Large would not work for me!
  • Mark the image in the media bin as being used in the time line. They know this info since they can delete items that are not in the timeline, Just need to mark the item!
  • When in List mode allow me to resize the columns. I don't care about Duration so allow me to make this a narrow column.
  • When in List mode allow a RT click on the Type icon and show a full thumbnail. I would suggest a RT Click Hold would work. Release would release the Thumbnail.
Thoughts...
