Manually upload Camtasia video to YouTube?

Due to the current issue where we can't upload directly from Camtasia to YouTube, I'm looking for a suitable workaround.  I can manually upload a video on YouTube, but I'm having trouble getting my Camtasia video exported in a high enough resolution.  I've tried MP4 and QuickTime format, but it always comes out looking grainy.  What export settings give the best resolution settings?

Hi Robin;
Are you seeing the grainy/low resolution in the MP4 file that you produce, or are you seeing it only on YouTube? If you're seeing it only on YouTube then you might want to wait a little before viewing it on Youtube as it can take as long as 24 hours for YouTube to serve high definition content (most uploads that I've personally seen will have the HD content served within a few hours).

Thank you for the response!  I hadn't even uploaded it to YouTube yet, because the grainy quality is on the MP4 file right on my desktop.  The video I've recorded is 4.5 minutes long, and the file only comes out to be about 44MB.  I don't know a lot, but shouldn't the file size be larger than that?  Or is it possible that this video would look better when it gets onto YouTube?

Hi Robin!

The file size will be dependent on many factors; from length and recording resolution to content and audio settings, but at 44MB that could be right since MP4 files are quite efficient. As to the issue, you may want to check out this support article as the issue is likely that there is a difference between your recording resolution, project settings, and production resolution; if those three do not match, you'll likely see degradation in quality.

I posted my video to YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxsCl4H1I5k) and the poor quality does indeed happen there.  Skip to time 1:50 to see what I mean.  The video looks great when I view/play it in the Camtasia app itself, but when I export it to MP4 the high quality is immediately lost.  I suppose what I'm wondering is - what export settings does the built-in Upload-To-YouTube feature use?  When that feature was working, the video quality always came out just fine.
