I don't get it! Everybody is looking for that round circle (mask) feature and yet Camtasia Windows version still doesn't have it. Even not on the new 2019 version!

You guys are forcing a lot of people to using Loom. Why not just implementing this feature on Camtasia for windows users?? Please do it as quick as possible! Thanks

it's a popular request

It's now 5 months later and still nothing! Can you pls make this feature? It takes me all day long to make a 10-min video with a dozen of these manually made mask recordings in it.

Pls take this request seriously! Otherwise it makes more sense to start using the free Loom on the side as well.

While I'm sure it's frustrating not to see this feature, the fact you state it takes you all day to make a 10 minute video because you have so many masks to make, seems to suggest that perhaps you should reconsider your workflow so making masks isn't needed to begin with?

I concur and just now posted the same request.  WHY has this been ignored for YEARS?  I think Camtasia needs to start taking this seriously - people will drop them and go with competitors on popular requests like this that are ignored.

That is not the issue we are protesting about.  I know I can workaround - with inconvenience.  It is NOT quick and easy unless you work on short videos and low resolution, due to the time it takes to publish the interim MP4.  Even the screencast skips over this stage (at 5:00).

Mac users have had the mask feature built-in for years.  W10 users don't get offered a discount becasue this commonly requested feature is not available.  Surely it cant be rocket science?   I would like to hear an authoritive answer from TechSmith - either you will add it, or you won't.  Tell us so we customers who want it can move on and use another package.

Super powerful Matte / Mask capabilities are coming to both platforms in Camtasia 2020. The video here is a little teaser. Not long to wait, folks.

Yes it is. It was launched this week. I upgraded to 2020 and I have used the circular mask feature.

I had to find it and learn a few new things, but I managed by following the longer version of Brooke's video. https://youtu.be/vZ_wIW6Qsy8

Really? I downloaded the Windows trial 2020. The mask feature is not found in the visual effects. Where did you find the feature?

I watched and copied that video I shared, with some help from Google and Techsmith's website I agree it wasn't intuitive - not listed under "mask". And I had to do things I've not done before, like make a group with a placeholder, alpha matte, etc.

But after 30 minutes playing I mastered it and now have a circular mask group in my library.

Thank you once again Kayakman.
You have either 525 or 835 videos that you've made to help us.
I'd appreciate it if you could send out a searchable file so that I could quickly find a video that I need, for instance "scrolling end credits" such has been requested recently.
Thanks

Yea I guess it's nice to create a circle and select Alpha, put it over my talking head etc. But it's still not perfect, for example if I make it together as a group (the circle and me talking) it doesn't show anything. So it cannot be a group. And if I want to resize it, I need to select everything and resize it, which is not that convenient. Do you guys have this as well?

I would just like it if I can just make a group of those two items, move it around and re-scale etc. But so far didn't work. (you guys talk about placeholder, does that make a big difference?)

Once grouped, you have to disable the track matte in the track above the group. Thats why you cannot see anything.

The track matte will be contained within the new group.
Then you can resize, reposition & animate the group to taste.

You can open the group to apply changes within.
Just don't Un-group it. If you do accidentally, hit undo and regroup.
