Can I reset Camtasia Studio to its original, freshly-installed state?

Hi there

I'm aware that other tools offer a feature that allows one to perform what I call a "Master Reset". Basically, what this option does is to allow resetting the application so it behaves as if it has been freshly installed. For example, in Camtasia, such a function would cause the MRU list to be cleared and other options.

So the question is, does such a feature exist? Either by pressing a super secret key combination as the application starts or by closing it and deleting a specific file or folder?

advTHANKSance for any info! Rick :)

Hello there,

No Super Secret. But a excellent question. I have wondered about this more than once.
I cannot tell a lie. I got the answer by talking to somebody who knows how to get this done.

TechSmith Technical Support, imagine that,LOL. {: > )

SO, Without further ado. I defer to CORY L.--------------- the TechSmith Dude.

To reset Camtasia back to defaults lets do the following:

I would like you to do the following.

-make sure CamtasiaStudio.exe is not running

 -click start-->run and type regedit

-browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\TechSmith\Camtasia Studio\8.0 and delete the 8.0 folder.

I have made a short video here that shows this process:

-try restarting Camtasia and see what happens

After that lets get you back to the default library as well.

You can reinstall the library files from here.

Camtasia Studio 7 library assets:

To download you just need to click on Download this media.

Camtasia Studio 8 Library Assets:

To download you just need to click on Download this media.

And this is the way that you are looking for to import these items:

You might even say I cheated. Regards, Joe

And FYI, I just did it a second ago and the program started like the day it was first installed. I did not reset my library. I like it like it is. I truly wanted to do this for a while now. Erases any change I should have never made.
