I do not understand the math in the Quiz Report. I have a video which is 44:08. Start time is 14:35 and Fiish Time is 14:40, which is 5 minutes of viewing which for a 44 minute video would be about 11%, yet my report shows the percentage of Segment viewed = 22.47%. Can you please explain how the percentage is calculated.

my best guess ...

video start time is the time [GMT] that the viewer started to look at the video

quiz finish time is the time [GMT] when the viewer "submitted" his answers

a viewer can stop viewing and jump to quiz at any point [navigate to end]

I believe that % viewed refers to how much of video viewer had played before jumping to quiz point

Thanks Kayakman - I appreciate the response, however that math still does not work.  If you look at the last entry, it shows 52% of the segment viewed, but their entire time - including the quiz was only 4 minutes which is less than 10%.  If they had watched 52% before jumping to the video, the time would need to be at least 22 minutes, right?  I am sure we are missing some very explainable reason, but I sure don't know it yet.

I have over 450 videos with quizzes;, but I've never paid much attention to the numbers you reference, just the questions as answered

maybe the view time is influenced by manually scrubbing down the video before jumping to the quiz?

have you tried testing your own quiz participation behavior against the reports?

that's something I'll have to try now that the issue has been brought up

let's hope the tech support can shed some insight here, if you do contact them

if you do get an answer, could you please share back here

Yes, I have tested my participation - the math is still fuzzy.  I will reply back when I receive a response from Techsmith.

Hello,

I’m a bit late to this, and there’s been a bit of discussion here already, but I may be able to weigh in still.

There is no direct relationship between ‘Percentage of Segment Viewed’ and ‘Video Start Time’ or ‘Quiz Finish Time’. They’re all three separate stats. They may very well have some correlation under normal use cases, but they don’t feed into one another.

I've made an illustration to hopefully explain how 'Percentage of Segment Viewed' is calculated and reported. I hope this explains what some of that data in the quiz report CSVs are trying to convey. If you have further questions, I'd be happy to speak more about this topic.

Thanks Jer - that may be helpful, but not really relevant to my particular scenario.  In my scenario, there is only 1 segment with a quiz at the end. I have been working with someone in your organization and they have spoken with the developers.  It was determined to be a bug and will be addressed as such.
